 Introduction:  
  In this special session, we explore models for the complex behavior of fluid flow based on the Euler or Navier-Stokes equations. Our focus lies on approximate models where nonlinearity, dispersion, and other effects are important. A diverse group of speakers (in terms of experience, geographic location, and gender) will present recent analytical, numerical, and experimental results based on linear, nonlinear, and nonlocal differential equation models.
