 Introduction:
Collective dynamics in large networks has been a subject of intense research in both the nonlinear science and statistical physics communities, often approached in different contexts and driven by different motivations. A striking example is the study of synchronization and metastability in the Kuramoto model of coupled phase oscillators, which is also known as the XY spin model in statistical physics. The goal of this session is to bridge the two fields by fostering the exchange of ideas and highlighting recent advances in both areas.
