In this talk, we present some existence and multiplicity results for Sturm-Liouville problems with either Dirichlet or periodic boundary conditions. Moreover, the problems are parameter-dependent and we provide intervals of parameters for which the problems admit one or multiple solutions. In addition, we offer a link between pure and applied mathematics since the problems considered are used to describe power converters (Dirichlet conditions) or the behavior of a neuron (period conditions).
