Abstract:
The surface quasigeostrophic (SQG) equation is of interest both for its physical relevance to meteorology and climate science, and for its interesting mathematical properties. While well-posedness for this equation is well known on R^2 and on the torus, more general domains Omega are only recently studied. We will discuss the SQG equation on bounded domains and the new difficulties introduced.
