| I will describe two predictive algorithms for estimating bursts in the external force of an abstract initial value problem (IVP). The focus is on the special structure of the samples of the solution of the IVP that allows for quick and accurate estimation of Dirac or rapidly decaying bursts. The predictive nature of the algorithms manifests in using the current samples to estimate the measurements at the end of the following sampling period on the condition that no burst occurred within the period.
