Abstract:
In this talk, we present local controllability results for a nonlinear coupled system of two Korteweg-de Vries equations posed on a bounded interval. The model was derived by Gear and Grimshaw to describe the interactions of two dimensional, long, internal gravity waves propagation in a stratified fluid. We address both, the internal and the boundary control problems. Our approach consists mainly in proving the controllability of the linearized system, which is done by by using a classical duality approach. A fixed point argument and a local inversion theorem are then applied to get the results for the nonlinear system.
