We propose a coupled reaction-diffusion system posed on two distinct spatial scales: a microscopic scale and a macroscopic scale. Considering the case that at the microscale a fast chemical reaction is taking place, we perform rigorously the corresponding fast-reaction asymptotics and obtain in the limit a two-scale reaction-diffusion system hosting a moving interface within the microstructure. Connections with the periodic homogenization of the original reaction-diffusion system with exploding reaction term are also pointed out. |
