Abstract:
Dengue virus is transmitted by mosquitoes, posting threat to people`s health and leading to economic cost in many tropical and subtropical regions. In this talk, I will present an ordinary differential equation model developed to analyze the underlying transmission mechanisms that contribute to the emergence and reemergence of dengue virus. Several mitigation strategies for dengue virus transmission are considered in the model. The basic reproduction number and the effective reproduction number are derived. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis and numerical simulations for this model are provided. The purpose of this work is to measure which mitigation strategies work best. This is a joint work with my supervisor, Ling Xue.
