I will discuss the kinetic Fokker-Planck equation with inelastic boundary conditions in one-space dimension with focus on the structure of solutions near the singular set. The inelastic boundary conditions are characterized by a restitution coefficient $r$ describing the amount of energy lost in the collisions of the particles with the boundaries of the domain. I will present the non-uniqueness result for $r$ less than the critical value and the uniqueness for $r$ greater than the critical value. The talk is based on a joint work with Hyung Ju Hwang and Juan J. L. Vel\`{a}zquez. |
