Contents
I will review mathematical approaches to the study of the dynamics of networks of randomly connected excitatory and inhibitory spiking neurons. I will discuss the linear stability analysis of the asynchronous state; the zoo of different types of states that are reached beyond various instabilities; and compute power spectra of population activity in finite size networks. These power spectra will be shown to provide good fits to experimental data recorded in monkey primary visual cortex.
