We study a kinetic model of active export of importins. The model was developed earlier. The kinetic model is written as a system of ordinary differential equations. We apply model reduction techniques to simplify the system. The techniques are: removal of slow reactions and quasi-steady state approximation. CellDesigner software is used to draw the chemical reaction network of the model, and Systems Biology Toolbox ( SBedit ) for Matlab is applied to simulate the concentration species. After model reduction, the numbers of reactions and species are reduced from 28 reactions and 29 species to 22 reactions and 21 species. The reduced model and original model are compared in numerical simulation. The methods of further model reduction are discussed.
