Chemically reactive mixtures can be modeled in the frame of the kinetic theory of gases.
Some interesting problems can be formulated
concerning the mathematical structure of the governing equations,
consistency of the macroscopic analogue derived in the hydrodynamic limit,
properties of the linearized reacting system,
extension of the model to a moderately dense gas regime,
existence and hydrodynamic stability of detonation wave solutions.
In this talk we will discuss some of these problems with reference to a particular kinetic model.
Some numerical simulations and representative computational results are also presented and discussed. |
