Semiclassical Soliton Ensembles for the KdV Equation

Abstract:
Solutions of the semiclassical Korteweg-de Vries equation are well known to generate dispersive shock waves. We study decaying initial data that generate a pure-soliton dispersive shock wave. We formulate the inverse-scattering transform as a meromorphic Riemann-Hilbert problem and analyze the solution using the Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest-descent method in the small-dispersion limit.
