Abstract:
In this talk, we examine shift spaces with infinite alphabets and their subshifts. Much as shift spaces over finite alphabets are important as models for compact dynamical systems, infinite alphabet shift spaces serve as models for some non-compact systems. We will explore some of the dynamical properties of such subshifts, with an eye towards generalizing known results for subshifts over finite alphabets. In particular, we will focus on the shadowing and specification properties in this setting.
