Abstract:
We study the problem of the hydrogen atom interacting with a circularly polarized microwave field (the CP problem), which can be modelled as a Hamiltonian system of 2 degrees of freedom depending on one parameter $K>0$. We will explain what we do and do not know about the dynamical behavior of this problem. We want to analyse both local and global behavior, regular and chaotic motion, and the main differences that appear when varying the parameter $K$.
