Abstract:
In this talk, I will discuss models of multistable perceptual rivalry and recent advances in the understanding of the mechanisms behind the phenomena of binoculars rivalry involving interocular grouping. More specifically, I will discuss our recently developed hierarchical model. This model can capture main features of experimental results and enables us to probe the roles of interactions between populations at the network level. The results indicated by the model showed that complex visual stimuli can be used in perceptual rivalry experiments to develop more detailed mechanistic models of perceptual processing.
