Abstract:
There has been a lot of studies on the spatiotemporal patterns arising from the Turing and wave instabilities. We can observe these instabilities in 3-componet reaction-diffusion system or 2-componet reaction-diffusion system with non-local effect. By tuning the system parameters carefully, these instabilities can take place at the same time. Therefore, the interaction between these two instabilities results in a rich variety of spatiotemporal dynamics. In this talk we introduce a class of 4-component RD system. It has a different type of wave-Turing interaction than that of 3-component RD system in the sense that the wavenumber for the Turing instability is less than the wavenumber for the wave instability. We will also discuss other behavior that can be obtained by the extension.
