Abstract:
Low dissipation shock-capturing methods will encounter the shock instability when calculating the multidimensional strong shock wave problems. The stability analysis is conducted to reveal the roots of instability inherent in low dissipation Roe scheme. Based on the analysis, a shock stable Roe scheme is constructed by adding the viscosities of entropy wave and shear wave into the flux transverse to the shock front. In order to prevent the improper viscosity from smearing the contact discontinuity and shear layer, the function dependent on the shock strength is defined to control the amount of additional viscosity. The numerical results of several challenging test problems demonstrate the robustness and accuracy of the improved scheme.
