Abstract:
We build a computational model including neurons from the basal ganglia, the thalamus and the motor cortex. The model can produce similar firing activity related to movement disorders. Using this computational model, we explore several types of deep brain stimulation, such as conventional high frequency stimulation, multi-site periodic high frequency stimulation, and multi-site closed-loop stimulation. We investigate the optimal stimulation parameters for each type of stimulation and further compare the feasibility and efficacy of the three types of stimulation.
