A Generalized Nehari Manifold Method for Finding Multiple Solutions to Semilinear Elliptic PDEs with an Energy Sink

Abstract:
In this talk we develop a generalized Nehari manifold method for finding multiple solutions to a semilinear elliptic PDE with an energy sink. Due to the appearance of an energy sink in the PDE, the search system for the minimax method using virtual geometric objects developed in our previous work cannot be applied. We present a new generalized search system, with which a convergence result of the algorithm can be established. Numerical examples are successfully carried out and will be presented to illustrate the algorithm. It turns out that the new search system actually implies some new interesting applications.
