Abstract:
Exact traveling (solitary) wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations are analyzed for third-order nonlinear evolution equations. This entails both Lie symmetry analysis and the Power Index Method. These equations have no homogeneous balance and therefore cannot be solved by the Power Index Method. Some evolution equations can be rendered linear where solutions are transferred from those of a linear partial differential equation. For other evolution equations transforming to a nonlinear partial differential equation which has a homogeneous balance gives rise to possible solutions by the Power Index Method. The solutions for evolution equations that are not rendered linear are developed here.
