Abstract:
| Over the past few decades, mathematics and geophysics have found many fruitful interactions through the study of the Euler and Navier-Stokes systems and their many approximate models. This special session focuses on recent progress in the theory and computation of these equations, especially as they relate to geophysics. In particular, the session aims to address important basic points such as well posedness and regularity as well as more subtle aspects like stability, long-time asymptotics and comparisons between different approximations. These issues will be addressed both theoretically as well as numerically. The interaction between theory and numerical simulation will be emphasized. |
