          | In this talk I will present some recent finite time blow-up results in three species population models, as a lead into
studying certain explosive invasive populations, such as the Burmese python in South Florida in the US. The blow-up is seen to occur for both small and large initial conditions.
I will next introduce the idea of ecological damping as a means of controlling blow-up in such invasive populations, whilst avoiding non-target effects, due to classical chemical and biological control. | |
