Abstract:
Chagas disease is mainly transmitted to humans by Triatoma infestans via blood meals. It causes many cases worldwide and can be fatal. In this talk, I present an ordinary differential equation model, assuming that Chagas vaccine is publicly available. The basic reproduction number and the extinction threshold are derived to predict whether the epidemic will spread. We quantify how the parameters respond to the basic reproduction number and cumulative number of infected humans etc. The objective of this work to analyze how to effectively allocate limited doses of vaccines.. This is a joint work with my supervisor, Ling Xue
